We finished our Magic School Bus experiments on fossils yesterday! It was fast and easy, with only one experiment to go, but life is lived at a different pace with a baby.
The kids used wet sand in this experiment to form an impression of the kit's dinosaur. Then they filled the impression with plaster of Paris and let it harden. After, it suggests painting it, but there seemed too much embedded sand in the dinosaur cast to be successful at it.
Another experiment was looking at Dino teeth and determining whether they belonged to herbivores or carnivores. The kids could easily and quickly distinguish the two types of teeth and Summer wrote down the answers in their experiment book.
An experiment of our own: Summer and I have been growing a carrot out of the remains of a mostly eaten root. It's amazing that a carrot wrenched from the earth four months ago and spending those months in a bag in the fridge, can continue to live and grow with the addition of a little bit of water and sunlight.

This looks so fun! I cant wait for ours to arrive.
